Effective Date: September 10, 2026

Welcome to Global MARC Solutions. By accessing or using our website and engaging our cataloging and metadata services, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined below. These Terms of Services establish the general framework for using our website, requesting our services, submitting project information, and working with our cataloging team.

1. About Our Services

Our services may include:

  • Original cataloging
  • Copy cataloging

  • Metadata enhancement and quality control
  • Multilingual and South Asian cataloging
  • Retrospective conversion
  • Backlog cataloging
  • Authority control
  • Subject analysis and classification
  • Cataloging of serials and periodicals
  • E-book and electronic resource cataloging
  • Government publications and PDF cataloging
  • Other cataloging and metadata services based on individual project requirements

Services are provided according to the specifications, standards, workflows, and requirements agreed upon with the client.

2. Project Requirements

Before beginning a project, clients may be required to provide relevant information, including:

  • Type of resources
  • Number of records
  • Languages and scripts
  • Required cataloging standards
  • MARC21 requirements
  • Classification and subject-heading requirements
  • Existing records or source data
  • Client-specific workflows or specifications
  • Quality-control requirements
  • Expected delivery timelines

Clients are responsible for providing accurate and complete project information. Any significant changes to the original requirements may affect the project scope, timeline, or quotation.

3. Cataloging Standards and Specifications

Cataloging work may be performed using applicable professional standards and practices, including MARC21, RDA, LCSH, LCC, DDC, authority control, subject analysis, and other agreed-upon specifications.

Where a client has specific cataloging rules, templates, workflows, or metadata requirements, those requirements should be communicated before the project begins.

The final deliverables will be prepared according to the specifications agreed upon for the particular project.

4. Quotes and Pricing

Project pricing is based on the scope and requirements of each individual project.

Factors that may affect pricing include:

  • Number of records
  • Type of cataloging required
  • Resource format
  • Language and script
  • Availability and quality of source records
  • Required metadata fields
  • Level of enhancement or quality control
  • Project complexity
  • Delivery requirements

A customized quotation may be provided after reviewing the client’s requirements.

A quotation does not constitute acceptance of a project until the project scope, pricing, deliverables, and other applicable terms have been mutually agreed upon.

5. Project Timeline and Delivery

Project timelines depend on the size, complexity, language requirements, resource type, and agreed workflow.

We make reasonable efforts to meet agreed delivery schedules. However, delays may occur when required source information, records, files, specifications, or clarifications are not provided on time.

Where project requirements change during production, the delivery schedule may need to be revised accordingly.

6. Quality Control

Global MARC Solutions aims to provide accurate, consistent, and professionally prepared bibliographic records.

Quality-control procedures may include record review, MARC validation, metadata checking, consistency checks, subject and classification review, and compliance with agreed client specifications.

If a client identifies an issue related to the agreed project specifications, the matter should be communicated within a reasonable period so that it can be reviewed and addressed.

7. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for providing accurate information and the necessary materials required to complete the project.

Clients should ensure that they have the appropriate rights or authorization to provide any books, files, bibliographic records, databases, documents, or other materials supplied to Global MARC Solutions for processing.

The client is also responsible for reviewing and confirming any client-specific requirements before production begins.

8. Confidentiality

We understand that cataloging projects may involve unpublished materials, institutional information, bibliographic databases, internal workflows, and other confidential information.

Global MARC Solutions will treat client-provided project information as confidential and will use such information only as reasonably necessary to provide the agreed services, unless disclosure is required by law or otherwise authorized by the client.

9. Intellectual Property

Clients retain ownership of materials, documents, bibliographic data, and other intellectual property that they provide to us, subject to any applicable third-party rights.

The ownership and permitted use of catalog records, enhanced metadata, templates, workflows, and other project deliverables will be determined according to the agreement between Global MARC Solutions and the client.

Clients are responsible for ensuring that materials supplied to us do not infringe the rights of third parties.

10. Third-Party Information and Resources

Cataloging work may involve information obtained from bibliographic databases, authority files, library resources, publishers, or other third-party sources.

While reasonable care is taken to ensure accuracy and consistency, Global MARC Solutions does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of information originating from third-party sources.

12. Limitation of Liability

Global MARC Solutions will make reasonable professional efforts to provide services according to the agreed project requirements.

However, to the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for losses arising from inaccurate information supplied by clients, third-party source data, unauthorized use of deliverables, changes made to records after delivery, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Any liability relating to a specific project will be subject to the terms agreed between Global MARC Solutions and the client.

13. Changes to Services or Terms

We may update our services, website content, or these Terms of Services when necessary.

Updated terms will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Clients should review the terms applicable to their engagement before commencing a new project.

14. Governing Terms

Any project-specific agreement, quotation, statement of work, or written arrangement between Global MARC Solutions and a client will take precedence over general website information where there is a conflict.
